How the Enablement Pack Works

The WhereScape CI/CD Enablement Pack acts as a bridge between WhereScape's metadata repositories and Git-based version control systems. At its core, the architecture connects a Git repository—which serves as the central source of truth for version-controlled metadata and configuration—to WhereScape RED and 3D through their respective command-line interfaces.
An audit function within the PostgreSQL database monitors changes made to the metadata repository, significantly reducing the time needed to identify and publish changes. The Enablement Pack then manages the flow of those changes through customisable deployment pipelines, allowing teams to define their own workflows for promoting changes across environments. An API web service provides additional flexibility, enabling external systems to trigger or interact with the deployment process programmatically.
The result is a workflow that will feel immediately familiar to anyone with software engineering experience: developers make changes in their WhereScape environment, those changes are captured and version-controlled in Git, and automated pipelines handle the promotion of validated changes through to production. Branching, merging, and deployment workflows all align with modern DevOps practices—applied to the specific context of data warehouse metadata and configuration.
